You may know me from the fitness world and magazines, possibly as your nurse during my student clinical rotations, or your personal fitness coach. Over the past 10 years I have maintained an active online and offline presence while completing my undergraduate and nursing degrees. What you may not know, is that during this time I’ve undergone many eye-opening life experiences, and met influential people that have changed my outlook on health, fitness and life. So much can happen in 10 years, and yet, when I reflect back, this period in my life seems surreal. Through it all, I have come to realize that we are all here on this earth to experience pain and happiness, loss and gratitude, health and illness, fear and strength, love and regret. For me, just as it has possibly been for all of you, getting to this point has been a long road; mentally, physically and spiritually.

Like all of you, I have had to over-come my own fears and bounce back from my many missteps. I could not get to where I am today if I didn’t have the strength to forgive myself and allow myself to grow without self-doubt or self-criticism. I personally know, that inner healing and self- improvement is one of the most difficult tasks one can experience in their lifetime. And throughout these often painful learning experiences I stay grounded by reminding myself that nothing is permanent. Each day I have a new opportunity to surprise myself, to live in the moment, and to express myself fully and whole-heartedly.

My lifestyle was quite different than it is today. I was an unorganized university student, partying on weekends, eating and sleeping poorly, and living under a constant weight of stress and expectations. In addition to university stressors, and traveling for frequent appearances and modeling shoots, I was encountering many toxic and harmful people. This unforgiving schedule and emotional and physical stress took its toll on my health. I had trouble staying focused and would sometimes wake up feeling dizzy or light-headed. Anytime I got sick, I would take over the counter drugs or prescription medications as my first (and only) response. My poor eating habits left me slightly anemic. The lack of vital nutrients in my meals also was detrimental to my body inside and out, which was problematic for my modeling career.

At 28 I graduated from McMaster University as a Registered Practical Nurse, but from the very beginning of my exposure to medical practices, something did not seem right. I loved helping and caring for my patients, however I never felt as though I really helped them. The medical system is designed to treat symptoms, not causes, and I was there to assist with the cover-up. I am not naïve to think the entire medical system is wrong, but I knew there had to be a better way to help these suffering people than simply pumping them full of drugs. In this place of “healing” I saw so many people I cared about just get sicker and sicker.

It was at this critical moment that I made a choice to completely change my life . I started personally working with naturopaths, integrated naturopathic science M.D.’s, spiritual healers, Chinese medicine gurus, psychologists, well-respected martial artists and nutrition and exercise specialists. The guidance and knowledge they gave me enabled me to not only understand how to help others with their health, but also to understand how to help and heal myself. It is through the accumulation and personal application of these experiences that I formed the basis of my own personal expression of fitness: Warrior Athlete.

Like so many of you, I needed to process and release my emotional traumas, change my diet, and eliminate toxic substances from my body, like alcohol, sugars, and processed foods. I found that limiting my workouts to 30 minutes a day, 3 to 4 times a week increased my strength faster while giving my body time to grow and develop. I learned to cook well-rounded meals and watched as my skin, hair, and nails became more radiant and hydrated in response. My iron level naturally balanced on their own, and I no longer easily got sick. My musculature developed properly into high quality dense muscle, giving me vibrant energy for hours throughout the day. And best of all, through this difficult rebirth, I have become focused, clear and present in this moment. I feel the best I have ever felt in my entire life.

The only thing more rewarding than feeling as good as I ever have, is that I am now able to pass along what I’ve learned directly to you. I c0-created Warrior Athlete with my husband for those of you who are looking for real results, not gimmicks, or miracle cures. I have helped my clients overcome smoking, alcoholism, obesity, acne, high blood pressure and depression through hard work and proper nutrition. With my program, a recent client of mine raised her health enough to place her Crohn’s disease into remission. Yet another client has done the same with Hashimoto’s Disease. As their mentor and friend, I am very grateful that I share in their successes and have enjoyed watching them progress in their personal and physical growth… and I know I can do the same for you!

I developed One-On-One Customize Training to use the most efficient and effective methods for achieve health and vitality through proper nutrition and exercise.
