Yes I said! Non bake chocolate square treats that are actually healthy for you. Let’s face it, you work so hard to maintain your mind and body, and deserve to indulge in amazing tasting foods.  So why not make them healthy and reap the benefits they have to offer.

Did you know that deserts from the conventional market place, such as cookies, sweets and other bake goods are full of processed refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, fillers, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors that are harmful for your health leading to disease and illness?  In addition to the unhealthy ingredients out into our foods, don’t forget about the dangerous manufacturing methods used of high heating oils creating toxicity in our foods.

When I switched to an all organic diet, my world changed. Here’s a healthy recipe that takes little effort, and no need to even turn the oven on to bake and alter nutrients found in this desert. All the ingredients used have a tremendous amount of health benefits.

  1. Coconut oil:

Coconut oil offers an extreme amount of benefits to your health. Not only will  it help you burn fat and build muscle, it can help build up your good gut bacteria to help absorb nutrients. It’s an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory food known to help prevent and treat alzheimers, prevent heart disease and high blood pressure, cures UTI & kidney infections, reduces inflammation and arthritis, prevent & treats cancer, boost immune system, improves memory, improves energy and endurance, digestion, ulcers, an colitis, helps gallbladder disease, & pancreatitis, prevents gum disease and tooth decay, prevents ostepororsis. improve type 2 diabetes, builds muscle.e. decrease body fat, benefit hair health, anti aging, fights candid & yeast infections and balances hormones. I also use as skin moisturizer and to remove my makeup up! Just make sure you get an organic coconut oil to reap all of these benefits. I personally use Thrive coconut oil . Remember you want to always consume products that are organic, and cold pressed.

2. Honey:

There are so many benefits that honey has to offer. Honey helps prevent cancer and heart disease, reduces ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders is an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, Increases athletic performance, reduces cough and throat irritation, is probiotic which helps heal the gut, helps improve skin, and heals wounds and burns. It also tastes delicious! Make sure you get an organic honey as there are many processed out on the market. I personally love and use honey from Thrive Market.

3. Almond Butter:

Almond butter is one of my favorite foods to eat. Even if it’s just off the spoon! It’s known to reduce heart disease, supports brain function, improves skin from it’s vitamin e and antioxidant properties, and helps control blood sugar by slowing down the rate at which sugar enters the bloodstream. Almonds help increase nutrient absorption such as Vitamin A and D, and helps build up your healthy gut flora. I get my almond butter from Thrive Market. Once again, there are many almond butters out there that are completely processed and unhealthy for you.

4. Flaxseed:

Did you know that flax seed is  for colon detoxification, fat loss and reducing sugar cravings? Flax seed is also incredible for healthy skin, hair, lower cholesterol, high in antioxidants, improves digestive health, fights cancer, high in omega 3-fatty acids, and can improve menopausal symptoms.

5. Dark cocoa powder/Dark chocolate:

Dark chocolate offers many benefits such as reducing blood pressure, increases brain function and may prevent cancer and free radicals.

6. Oats:

Oats are amazing for you. They reduce heart disease, supports brain function, improves skin from it’s vitamin e and antioxidant properties, increase fat loss and muscle building.

Here’s my recipe:

Tools:

  • Glass bowls-(medium, small, large)
  • Whisper
  • Cookie sheet
  • Parch paper

Ingredients:

•2–1/2 cups gluten-free rolled oats

•1 cup unsweetened, flaked coconut

•2/3 cup honey

•1/2 cup coconut oil

•1 cup almond butter

•1 tablespoon whole flaxseeds

•2 teaspoons vanilla extract

•6 tablespoons dark cocoa powder

•coconut sugar to sprinkle on top

•1 cup dark chocolate chunks (optional)

Directions:

1. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

2. In a large bowl, mix the oats and coconut flakes well and set aside.

3. In a medium pot over medium heat, combine the honey, coconut oil and almond butter and stir continuously until the mixture is melted and mixed evenly.

4. Remove from heat and add in the oats and coconut flakes, stirring continuously. Add the flaxseeds, vanilla extract and cocoa powder and continue stirring until mixture becomes thick.

5. Drop heaping tablespoons of the mixture onto the cookie sheets. Lightly sprinkle coconut sugar and sea salt on top of each cookie. Place the cookie sheets in the freezer for at least 20 minutes, or until you’re ready to serve.

6. Take the cookies out of the freezer and allow them to thaw for 5 minutes before serving. Store any leftover cookies in a sealed container in the freezer.
